Cylindrical roller bearing is the bearing with a cylindrical roller and radial rolling. The internal structure of cylindrical roller bearing use the roller that vertical cross arrangement (which is the name origin of crossed roller bearing). Interval cage or isolation block is arranged between the rollers to prevent roller tilt or roller mutual friction and it is an effective method to avoid the increase of the rotary torque.

Summary

Cylindrical roller bearing is the line contact bearing of cylindrical roller and raceway. It has large load capacity and mainly bear radial load. The friction of ring wall and rolling is small. It is suitable for high-speed rotation. According to the ferrule with or without ribs, it can be divided into single row cylindrical roller bearings of NU, NJ, NUP, N, NF etc. and double row cylindrical roller bearing of NNU, NN etc. The inner, outer ring of this bearing can be separated.

The inner ring and the outer ring can do axially move relatively when the inner or outer ring of cylindrical roller bearing don't have ribs. So it can be used as free end bearings. The cylindrical roller bearings that on one side of the inner ring and the outer ring have double ribs, the other side of the ferrule have a single rib can be bear axial load in one direction. Generally, it use the stamping steel cage or copper alloy solid cage. But some use polyamide forming cage.
